The WikiHike Goal

To document and make accessible to everyone the knowledge necessary to undertake new and exciting hiking adventures the world over.

Help by Creating and Editing Hiking Articles

First, log in! WikiHike is free to join and you can contribute as much or as little as you like. Once you're a member you can:

  • Add information about the hikes you have completed
    • Trail Names
    • Location
    • Hike Length
    • Hike Time
    • Hike Type (Backpacking, Day Trip, Waterfalling, Bushwacking, etc.)
    • Difficulty
    • Elevation Gain
    • Trail Type
    • Plot the trail using an integrated Map
    • Driving directions to the Trail Head using Google Maps
    • GPS Coordinates of the Trail Head, Summit and Key Points along the hike
    • A Trail Map
    • What mountain range the hike is in
    • Pictures from key points along the hike, (trail head, trail mergers and splits, the summit, etc.)
  • Use the Hike Map to mark trail heads
  • Describe hiking outfitters such as L.L.Bean, EMS, Northface, Columbia and Rock Creek
  • Share your hiking or Peak bagging club
  • Outline famous hiking expeditions
  • Add definitions to the WikiHike Glossary of Hiking Terms
  • Edit or remove broken links to external sites
  • And of course, spread the word! Let all your fellow hikers know that they can safely deposit all of their hiking knowledge here at WikiHike.Org
